Don’t be judgmental of other people who are emotionally depressed. It may be only by the grace of God that you aren’t in the same place yourself! And if you do go through it, don’t judge yourself for it.

Calling emotional depression a sin is a lie. It is a part of the human experience. We do need to choose carefully what we do with the emotional reactions that we have in life, but that’s another teaching for another time. This is the point I want you to recognize: Sometimes emotional depression is the normal and natural reaction to things that are going on. If you believe otherwise, you will remain in bondage to feelings of guilt and shame. You might also unintentionally bring condemnation to other hurting people. Believe that Christ is your peace and your joy, and He will guide you step by step. And He will embrace you…even in the middle of your depression.
